On the 28th of November, 2023, the Ladakh Rigjung public, along with several other schools from Leh, participated in a Yato Club meeting at which a critical issue was discussed—the escalation of drug abuse among younger generations, particularly in schools. This event aimed to raise awareness and provide proactive solutions to address this growing concern.
During the meeting, our students actively engaged in discussions and workshops, gaining valuable insights into the preventive methods required to tackle drug abuse. One of the key strategies highlighted was the redirection of addicted students towards alternative activities, such as sports, debate, and drama. This approach not only provides a healthier outlet for their energy but also helps in building a positive and constructive environment within the school community.
The event was enriched by the presence of various experts, including narcotic police officers, social welfare professionals, and renowned neuro-psychiatrist, Dr. Samena. Their expertise and experiences were shared with the attendees, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of the issue at hand. The program proved to be both helpful and informative, providing attendees with tools and knowledge to effectively combat drug abuse within the school system.
With the insights gained from this meeting, Ladakh Rigjung Public School is committed to implementing an educational campaign within the school to further disseminate information about drug abuse prevention. By leveraging the knowledge gained from the Yato Club meeting, we hope to create a safer and healthier environment for our students.
